Woman fined over a thousand pounds for selling illegal cigarettes in Grays

A WOMAN has been fined over a thousand pounds for selling illegal cigarettes in Grays Town Centre.

Sarah Cambridge, aged 57, of South Esk Road, Forest Gate, London was taken to court by Thurrock Council.

She pled guilty to the following at Basildon magistrates court.

On 04/07/2016 at Grays Shopping Centre with a view to gain for yourself or another, or with intent to cause loss to another, and without the consent of the proprietor, sold goods, namely 1 packet of 20 ‘L&M’ cigarettes, bearing, or the packaging of which bore, a sign identical to, or likely to be mistaken for, a registered trade mark, namely ‘L&M’.

On 29/07/2016 at Grays Shopping Centre with a view to gain for yourself or another, or with intent to cause loss to another, and without the consent of the proprietor, sold goods, namely 1 packet of 20 ‘Mayfair Kingsize’ cigarettes, bearing, or the packaging of which bore, a sign identical to,

On 29/07/2016 at Grays Shopping Centre with a view to gain for yourself or another, or with intent to cause loss to another, and without the consent of the proprietor, sold goods, namely 1 packet of ‘L and M’ cigarettes, bearing, or the packaging of which bore, a sign identical to, or likely to be mistaken for, a registered trade mark, namely ‘L and M’.

On 26/01/2017 at Grays Shopping Centre with a view to gain for yourself or another, or with intent to cause loss to another, and without the consent of the proprietor, had in your possession, custody or control in the course of a business, goods, namely 84 packets of 20 ‘Mayfair Kingsize’, which bore, or the packaging of which bore, a sign identical to, or likely to be mistaken for, a registered trade mark, namely ‘Mayfair’, with a view to you or another to gain or with intent to cause loss the said goods.

On 26/01/2017 at Grays Shopping Centre with a view to gain for yourself or another, or with intent to cause loss to another, and without the consent of the proprietor, had in your possession, custody or control in the course of a business, goods, namely 15 packets of 20 ‘L and M’, which bore, or the packaging of which bore, a sign identical to, or likely to be mistaken for, a registered trade mark, namely ‘L and M’, with a view to you or another to gain or with intent to cause loss the said goods.

On 26/01/2017 at Grays while carrying on a business at Grays Shopping Centre, which involved the sale of tobacco by retail failed to exhibit at that location a notice as required by regulation 4 of the Children and Young Persons (Protection from Tobacco) Regulations 1991.

Cambridge was fined £1000 and required to undertake community service.
