Detectives investigating an incident during which a man was injured by an air rifle, are asking for anyone with information to come forward.
Officers attended an address in Monarch Close, Tilbury, at around 6.20pm on Sunday, August 27, after being called by the ambulance service.
The victim was a man in his 70s, who had suffered an injury to the neck after a shot was fired with an air rifle.
He was airlifted to hospital and has been treated for his injuries. These are not life threatening.
It is believed a group of people, aged between 12 to 13 years old, were seen running away from the scene.
They were initially believed to have been carrying what were thought to be green fishing rod bags, but it is possible these were air rifle bags.
There is not believed to be any risk to the public following this incident.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Grays CID on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
