
THE Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner for Essex (PFCC) is pleased to announce the launch of the 2024/25 Community Safety Development Fund (CSDF), offering £300,000 to support local initiatives that prevent and tackle crime and anti-social behaviour.
The CSDF empowers communities and voluntary and community groups across Essex, including Southend and Thurrock, to deliver innovative and effective solutions aligned with the PFCC’s Police and Crime Plan.
Roger Hirst, Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner, said: “Our Community Safety Development Fund has a proven record of delivering impactful interventions at the heart of local communities.”
“We are committed to working with our local voluntary and community sector partners to deliver on the ambitions of the Police and Crime Plan to keep our communities safe.”
Funding will be awarded to projects that demonstrably address the PFCC’s key priorities, including:
Driving down ASB (Anti-Social Behaviour) and crime
Beating knife crime and drugs
Protecting the vulnerable
Tackling Domestic Abuse
Improve road safety and reduce road death in Essex to Zero’
Applications will be considered through two funding rounds:
Round 1: Opens July 22nd 2024 and closes September 1st 2024
Round 2: Opens December 1st2024, and closes February 2nd 2025

Decision-Making Process. A panel of independent, local representatives will assess applications based on their impact on the PFCC’s priorities, alignment with existing initiatives, and value for money.
