A THIRD man has been arrested in connection with an attempted van theft in Purfleet in which a driver was critically injured.
The 24-year-old man from Purfleet was arrested at Grays on Wednesday evening July 10. He was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
Two other men, aged 26 and 28 and both from Purfleet were arrested in Grays at about 2am today, Wednesday July 10. They were also arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
All three men have been bailed until September 20 pending further enquiries.
Detectives and road policing officers are still seeking witnesses after an incident at Wood Avenue, Purfleet at about 12.20pm on Tuesday July 9 in which a van driver was run over while trying to stop two men from stealing his van.
The driver, who is in his 50s and from the Havering area, received multiple injuries and remains in a critical condition at Royal London Hospital.
