TWO men are due in court after being stopped during roads policing operation in Basildon and Grays.
A police spokesperson said: “We have charged Maqsood Aziz, 56, of Northolme Close, Grays, with affray after stopping him in Lodge Lane, Grays, at around 2.40pm on Thursday, July 26. He is due to appear at Basildon Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, August 23.
“We also charged Danny Ruel, 27, of Gad Close, Plaistwow, with theft, possession of cannabis, driving without insurance and failing to provide a specimen after he was stopped in Pound Lane, Basildon, at around 6.30pm on Thursday, July 26.
He is due to appear at Basildon Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, September 11.
“During our operations we also arrested a 30-year-old man from Grays and a 36-year-old man from Plaistow on suspicion of driving under the influence and they have been released under investigation,
“A 30-year-old from Basildon stopped and arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and without a licence and insurance has also been released under investigation.
“Our officers spoke to 52 drivers who were not wearing seatbelts, 16 for driving while on the phone, 14 for speeding and 29 people for driving without a licence, MOT or insurance.
