Chafford Hundred rapper named as teenager murdered in Romford

A TEENAGER murdered in Romford has been named locally as a boy from Chafford Hundred.

The 15-year-old, named locally as Jordan Douherty, died when violence erupted after up to 100 youths mobbed a 16th birthday party at a community centre in Clockhouse Lane, Collier Row, Romford on Saturday night.

He is the youngest person to be fatally stabbed in London this year.

YT understands that Jordan attended Harris Academy in Chafford Hundred.

Three teenage boys were arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder and taken for questioning at different police stations in East London.

Jordan was a rapper and featured in a string of YouTube videos with the group C17 under the name Young Valenti. His older brother Roland performs as Valenti.

Detective are appealing for information and witnesses to come forward after a “large fight” took place following an event at the North Romford Community Centre, Clockhouse Lane, on Saturday, June 23 at 9.05pm.

Police and the London Ambulance Service attended the scene and were confronted by around 100 young people.

A Met Police spokesman confirmed a 15-year-old boy was found with stab wounds and although he was treated at the scene by paramedics, he was pronounced dead a short while later.

Det Sgt Gurj Singh said: “I would like to directly appeal to those present to contact police about what they saw and heard to help my team build a clearer picture of what took place.

“Equally, if you have video footage or images of the violent aftermath to the party, we need to hear from you.”

Response team inspector Michael O’Donoghue from East Area Command said a large crime scene will remain in place for some time and high visibility patrols will be stepped up in the area.

“Officers have been out in force providing reassurance to those in the community who have no doubt been shocked by this appalling attack on a teenager,” he said.

“We will continue to provide a high visibility presence and officers will be on hand to hear from the local community.

“Our thoughts are with the victim’s family and friends.”

Insp O’Donoghue said that lots of young people at the party will be affected by what they saw, and he urges anyone with information about this incident or about regular knife carriers to get in touch anonymously.

Following the death, London mayor, Sadiq Khan said on Twitter “Anyone involved in this tragic incident will swiftly face the full force of the law.

“Violent crime is rising across our country and these senseless deaths are devastating families and communities.
