ESSEX Police are appealing for witnesses after would-be thieves attempted to steal a moped and threatened the owner with a knife.
The Honda SH125i was parked outside KFC restaurant in West Thurrock Way, Grays, at 7pm on Wednesday December 6, when two men broke the steering lock and attempted to steal it.
The owner, a 25-year-old man, was standing nearby and challenged them. A third suspect, who was on a red Yamaha NMax125, threatened the owner with a knife. The victim ran off and fell, suffering minor grazing to his hands.
The other two suspects ran off towards Frankie and Benny’s and the moped was not taken
Witnesses or anyone with information are asked to contact Sgt Trevor Edhouse at Grays local policing team on 101 quoting incident number 42/172975/17.
