Update:
Essex Police were contacted just after 10am yesterday (Friday, November 24), to reports of a car fire, believed to have been caused deliberately, in Albany Road.
Very shortly after, at around 10.10am, we received additional reports that a firearm had been seen and shots heard.
It is believed that shots had been discharged into the car, which had been set alight.
A 29-year-old man and a 26 year-old-woman were subsequently arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm and criminal damage.
Both people arrested remain in custody today (Saturday, November 25), pending further enquiries.
Nobody was injured.
Enquiries are ongoing, and anyone with information is asked to contact DI James Freeman on 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
A SPECIALIST firearms unit for Essex Police has reported that a firearm was discharged in Tilbury on Friday.
The Essex Support Unit went on Twitter on Friday morning to tell its 598 followers of the incident.
They said: “Firearm discharged into a parked car in Tilbury. Brilliant work by investigators and the intelligence teams. FSU officers conducted an armed stop, on a vehicle, followed later by an armed foot strike. All subjects arrested safely”.
