DEPUTY Mayor of Thurrock, Cllr Mike Stone, expressed his sadness following the events which unfolded last night at London Bridge and Borough Market.
He said: “There is little that words can do to help after such evil acts.
“So instead of just saying words, let me give thanks.
“I would like to thank the emergency services, who show again how they are the heroes of this great country.
“To all those people who could have ran, but chose to help.
“To the hotels, taxi drivers, shops and restaurants who opened their doors to those who needed assistance.
“To the hospitals and the staff, who are going, again, beyond their duties, staying late and working hard to save lives.
“Finally, my thoughts rest with those who have lost their lives or who were injured. My heart goes to them and their families and friends. We in Thurrock are extremely sorry for your loss.
“Thurrock continues to stand in solidarity with the people of London.”
