Police appeal for witnesses following fatal collision in Purfleet

ESSEX Police are appealing for any witnesses or those with dashcam footage to come forward after a fatal collision in Purfleet.

An Essex Police spokesperson said: “We were called to reports of a collision involving two cars on London Road, close to the Stonehouse Corner roundabout at about 10.15pm on Thursday 24 April.

Sadly, despite the best efforts of those at the scene, a 17-year-old has died. His family has been informed and is being supported by our officers while we carry out our investigation.

Officers arrested an 18-year-old man from Rainham man on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, who remains in custody.

The road was closed for several hours overnight and has now reopened.

We are now appealing for any drivers in the area at the time of the collision to get in touch, in particular with dashcam footage, to support our enquiries.
