DURING the school holidays, the fire service in Essex often see a rise in deliberate fires started by children and young people.
A spokesperson said: ‘Parents and carers, we need your help to reduce these preventable fires.
If you have any concerns your child might be starting fires, did you know we have a Fire Safety Intervention Scheme?

It’s is a free service that aims to deter children from becoming involved with further fire-setting behaviour with guidance and education for young people up to 17-years-old.
“If you notice your child has a new fascination with fire, carries lighters or maybe they come home smelling of smoke, we can give you advice and help to deter fire-setting behaviour”.
