Two arrested after stabbing in South Ockendon

TWO people have been arrested after a stabbing in South Ockendon.

We were alerted shortly after 1pm yesterday, Saturday 23 November, in Clayburn Gardens.

It was reported that a teenage boy had sustained a number of injuries to his hands and torso. These injuries were assessed as stab wounds.

He was taken to hospital for treatment and thankfully his injuries are not thought to be life-changing or life-threatening.

Throughout Saturday evening, detectives began piecing together the moments leading up to, and shortly after, the incident and two men aged 18 and 23 were arrested.

Both remain in custody today being questioned on suspicion of GBH with intent.

Superintendent Tim Tubbs said: “I understand that this incident may cause concern with our community, and I hope the public are reassured by the speed at which our officers have identified a number of people suspected of being involved.

“Both these men remain in custody today and we’re continuing to progress a number of targeted lines of enquiry.”
