
A MAN has been charged with burglary and assaulting an emergency worker following an incident at a Tesco Express in Chafford Hundred
A police spokesperson said: “Our officers were called to the store in Drake Road shortly before 7pm on Wednesday 4 September.
It was reported three suspects, wearing masks, were making threats to staff and customers while attempting to steal alcohol and cigarettes.
It was further reported one of the suspects smashed a bottle, using it to make further threats.
While we responded, two off-duty officers were near to the scene and managed to detain one of the suspects, a 32-year-old man, as they made off. No one sustained any injuries in this incident.
Now, 32-year-old Sharaz Aziz, of Fernie Road in Chigwell, is charged with burglary and assaulting an emergency worker.
“He appeared at Southend-on-Sea Magistrates’ Court on Friday 6 September and has been remanded in custody pending a future court date”.
