A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of cannabis cultivation following a warrant in Tilbury this morning.

Officers carried out a warrant, close to King Georges Field in Tilbury under Section 23 of the Misuse of Drugs Act following intelligence around drug production at the address.

When officers entered the property, approximately 25 suspected cannabis plants were found as well as a drug paraphernalia items.

A 36-year-old man from Tilbury has been arrested on suspicion of cannabis cultivation.

He remains in custody.

Chief Inspector Tony Atkin said:

“This is a great result from our officers, who continue to prevent drug dealers from making money by exploiting vulnerable people.

“Despite the damage that drugs cause to our communities, we are still dealing with people who think cannabis is a harmless plant. This is not the case and we have found that drug use fuels other forms of crime.

“We will continue to work hard to tackle drug related criminality. I encourage anyone who has suspicions about drug use in their area to contact us, so that we can build a picture and continue to conduct warrants such as these.”
