EAST Thurrock MP Stephen Metcalfe recently met with borough police commander CI Tony Atkin to discuss crime and issues in the borough.
In particular the discussion focussed on car crime, anti-social behaviour, wildlife crime and how the police can increase community cohesion.
Figures released by Essex Police show overall, car crime is down by 20% and the force’s Stolen Vehicle Intelligence Unit is having success in catching criminals, returning cars and preventing future thefts.
Anti-social behaviour is down by 30% year-on-year.
Mr Metcalfe also brought up the issue of wildlife crime, having been contacted by constituents who were concerned about people using catapults to target birds and other wild animals.
