Stifford Clays man banned for drink driving and failing to stop

A STIFFORD Clays man has pleaded guilty to a number of road traffic offences including drink driving and failing to report a road traffic collision.

Brian Hampshire, aged 59, of Crammavill Street, Stifford Clays made the plea at Basildon magistrates court.

On 01/11/2020 at Orsett being the driver of a mechanically propelled vehicle, Jaguar X-type, owing to the presence of which on a road or other public place, High Road, an accident occurred whereby damage was caused
to another vehicle, and not having given your name and address to a person having reasonable grounds for requiring you to do so, failed to report the accident at a police station or to a constable as soon as was reasonably practicable, and in any case within twenty-four hours of the occurrence of the accident.

On 01/11/2020 at Orsett being the driver of a mechanically propelled vehicle, Jaguar owing to the presence of which on a road, High Road, an accident occurred whereby damage was caused to another vehicle, failed to stop.

On 01/11/2020 at Orsett drove a motor vehicle, Jaguar on a road, High Road, after consuming so much alcohol that the proportion of it in your breath, namely 106 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, exceeded the prescribed limit.

Hampshire was disqualified for two years and will have to undertake e200 hours of community work.
