POLICE have been mounting a search for a firearm in Grays this morning (Sunday, 7 April) after an incident last evening reports the Thurrock Independent.
It follows the alarm being raised when police were told of a man seen with what was described as a rifle near the river near to the Argent Street area of Grays at around 5.30pm.
It was reported the man had been shooting at a target.
A police statement today said: “We attended and a short time later arrested a located a 20 year-old man from Aveley. No firearm was found
“He was arrested on suspicion of firearm offences and has accepted an adult caution.”
A number of officers were searching the area around Argent Street this morning and asked locals to be on the lookout for a holdall, which might contain a firearm. A drone was also employed as part of the search.
