LESS than 24 hours after a dramatic car fire in the town, Essex Police officers took to the streets of South Ockendon this afternoon (Wednesday, 13 March) to deal with a disturbance involving a gang of people reports the Thurrock Independent.
Witnesses report seeing a man being chased and apprehended close to Ockendon Academy. An ambulance was also in attendance.
A police spokesperson confirmed: “We were called to reports of a disturbance involving a group of people in Erriff Drive, South Ockendon at around 2.25pm on Wednesday, 13 March.
“We have attended and our enquiries are ongoing.”
It is the second significant incident of anti social behaviour in the town in 24 hours. Last evening a car, which it is believed was stolen, was set on fire.
The police spokesman added: “We are investigating following the theft of a vehicle in South Ockendon. A red Saab Vector was found on fire in the Easington Way/Elan Road area at around 7pm.
“It is believed the vehicle was stolen.
