TWO Thurrock Council Civil Enforcement Officers were attacked and injured while trying to ensure safety outside a borough school traffic blackspot reports the Thurrock Independent.
Problems outside Purfleet Primary School have been long running, with parents and residents calling for action.
In June there was a serious accident at the site. Residents have been calling the situation a powder keg. Yesterday (Thursday, 22 November) it exploded!
Enforcement officers were on site and while issuing a ticket to an illegally parked car they were attacked.
Witnesses report one officer was knocked to the floor and had his face stamped on three times!
Both required hospital treatment and it is understood one now has to attend Broomfield Hospital for damage to an injured eye socket. The other suffered concussion and will require further treatment also.
Parents and children, some of whom were left extremely distressed, witnesses the incident and parents are reported to have helped restrain the attacker.
A police spokesperson said: “We are investigating after reports two civil enforcement officers were assaulted in Purfleet.
“It happened in Tank Hill Road shortly before 8.50am.
“Enquiries are ongoing.
