THROUGHOUT today residents living in Tilbury may see police officers, including armed officers, from the Metropolitan Police taking part in a training exercise. The exercise will last until around 9pm and will be based at the Amazon distribution centre in Tilbury and the Gateway Academy on Marshfoot Road.
This is one of a number of routine exercises which take place each year across the UK and is not in response to any specific intelligence or threat to Tilbury or Essex.
If you see officers moving around near the area or hear noises in the vicinity, it is overwhelmingly likely to be related to the exercise and there is nothing to be concerned about.
